αν, όταν, μόλις — the same machinery
After future-pointing όταν (when), μόλις (as soon as), πριν (before), Greek uses the same subjunctive: Όταν έρθεις, θα φάμε (when you come, we’ll eat) — never θα after όταν.
Polite wishes and advice
The same machinery serves everyday politeness: Αν θες, πάμε σινεμά (if you like, let’s go to the cinema). Αν μπορείς, πάρε με τηλέφωνο (if you can, call me). The condition softens the request — exactly as in English.
